Dramz Whiskey Bar Lounge

A whiskey bar spread over four floors of a Mehrauli bungalow, Dramz is a conundrum on the Delhi nightscape – extravagant but not pretentious. And it houses a wine cellar, private dining rooms, an intimate bar as well as a two-level terrace. In between all of this, it manages to juggle a pretty neat list of wines as well and hosts regular tasting sessions. Unfortunately, they’ve cut their whiskey list down to half, but the unbeatable view of the Qutub Minar still makes it a coveted spot. Options from the Highland, Lowland, Speyside and Islay are the most prominent now with some wonderful finds. We threw out words like smoky and peaty, and they returned with a wonderfully ashy and full-bodied Coal Ila 12 Y.O, the Gaelic name for the Sound of Islay, it’s made on the shores of a distillery there and we could almost hear the crashing waves as we dived in. The bar also stocks different glassware and ice cubes for each drink, so you can enjoy them at leisure. Also interesting was the Dalwhinnie 15 Y.O — elegantly floral and smooth single malt. If you aren’t into malts, you can pick from grapes instead or go for one of their in-house concoctions, though there aren’t any standouts. For eats, try their decadent Caramelised Onion and Glazed Brie Tarts or Stir Fried Pork. The perfect option for evenings you want to drink like an adult and not be distracted by an EDM play list or teeny boppers — both of which can be found in abundance at most bars in town.
