The play is a musical adaptation of the novel Hard Times by Charles Dickens, which was written over 160 years ago and is still a fan favourite. It is the story of Louisa and her brother Tom, who are raised by their father. The father owns a school and believes in making children disciplined and obedient, similar to a robot. Louisa does not share the same vision and is a free-spirited girl. The plot takes a turn when the father marries Louisa against her wishes to his friend and her brother finds a job as a bank clerk.
