Bringing India’s sub-cultures together under one roof – The Coalition is less of a conference and more a festival celebrating creativity. Now in its third edition, they’ve upped the ante by bringing in professionals who work in 12 different streams to curate the panels and speaker sessions for them. What this means is that you get insider access to topics as varied as Gaming, FB and Publishing straight from the horse’s mouth.
WHAT IS IT
What started off in 2014 as a boot camp for freelancers, entrepreneurs, students and professionals looking to give wings to their ideas and turn them into a business has become a hub for collaboration and ideas. This year, the aim is to help fuel the next wave of creative ventures in the country, so expect great experiences being shared during sessions, workshops, panels and networking events that are meant to inspire you.
Every curator is involved in the streams they are responsible for and are known for their body of work, so you get actress Freida Pinto and producer Guneet Monga heading the film division next to BuzzFeed India Editor Rega Jha and YouTube’s Shilpa Keshwani looking after Content Creation, whereas Publishing legend Urvashi Butalia from Zubaan Books will collaborate with Yodakin’s Arpita Das. Our very own EIC – Deepali Gupta will also be co-curating FB/Hospitality with Small Fry Co’s Insia Lacewalla.
The 3-day event is not all about talking shop though, and will offer plenty of opportunities to unwind with gigs by musicians and comedians as well as evening minglers.
WHAT TO EXPECT
#TC3 is divided over 3 days and kicks off with a day-long series of focussed sessions with industry experts from the distinct streams – design, publishing, journalism, hospitality, fashion, makers, gaming, art and photography, music, comedy, content and social media – hosted across different cultural centers and venues in Delhi on March 4th. Things will then converge at Talkatora Stadium for the weekend (March 5th and 6th) where big-ticket names have already signed on to be speakers and hold workshops.
Confirmations and line-ups are still being finalised, but the first 100 speakers include the likes of Hotstar Digital Head Ajit Mohan, Godrej Boyce’s Navroze Godrej, India Quotient Founder Anand Lunia, St+Art Creative Director Hanif Kureshi, authors Neelesh Misra, Rana Ayyub and Vishwajyoti Ghosh, Le 15’s macaron empress Pooja Dhingra, GrubFest co-founder Chaitanya Mathur, Ex-Noma and current Gaggan Chef Garima Arora, UnMute Director Dev Bhatia, and a posse of comedians such as Kanan Gill, Abish Mathew, Radhika Vaz and the AIB Gang (Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhatt) among others.
We really can’t give you any more reasons to sign up!
