The original gig spot of HKV, OTB has watched over the neighbourhood’s massive expansion over the years before passing on the baton to its cousin – Summer House Café. The multi-level bar stays true to its name and attempts some unconventional things — from a genre free music policy that plays rock, techno and Latino to a menu spanning several countries. The Hauz Khas outlet is more active on the gig scene and is also better looking with a more buzzing location and a wonderful terrace, while the Khan Market outlet is full of teenyboppers and lovers of cheap booze. Run by a seasoned hospitality company that is managing multiple café-bars, resto-bars and restaurants, it’s not surprising that the bar and kitchen are both looked after well. From Mojitos and Sangrias to signature concoctions like Caribbean Thunder, their cocktails are fast movers, but patrons also flock here for their VFM deals on spirits and beers. The eats range from Lebanese to Italian, Thai to Japanese, Chinese to Indian and they do decent dim sums, Malaysian Satay, Ludhiana Tandoori Chicken and Keema Pav. With an elevated stage area and a grungy, old school vibe, the HKV location is an ideal venue for both intimate and sweaty gigs. Drop by on weekends to catch eclectic live performances or just hang out over a sundowner on their rooftop.
