In stark contrast to neighbouring Striker’s more intimate vibe, Manhattan is a sprawling space with a large stage, giant video screens, a spacious bar and Kinect gaming consoles. And while being called the other brewery in a mall can’t be a good thing for any venue, Manhattan has used its location to its advantage and is always packed post 8pm. The mixed clientele of office-goers, young couples and big groups of revellers are right at home chugging and challenging each other to rounds of table tennis, beach volleyball and bowling on the gaming screens. That sense of bonhomie is infectious and would make you want to linger on, if you manage to find a table. While they had originally started with a bigger list of brews including their own Stout, they’ve now cut down to 4 – Wheat, Hefe and two types of Lagers. The former two are weaker in comparison to other popular brewpubs, but the Lagers are a refreshingly malty option. The clear American influence is obvious, though they also stock Japanese Sake, Sochu and single malts in an already extensive menu that is a fun read thanks to random facts and quotes thrown all around. For non-hoppy drinkers, their fusion cocktails are led by Manhattan Mojito and Fresh Fruit Martini. Before ordering another round, line your stomach with heavyduty appetisers like BBQ Chicken Wings, Collage of Fries and Fish Tikka served up by an efficient wait staff. Their Weekend Club Nights and Thursday Comedy Sessions make for a raging good time!
