Curated by Uma Nair, Earth Songs comes as a celebration, to highlight as well as recognise and reaffirm the importance and vitality of the folk and tribal art forms. Comprising of 70 paintings and 10 sculptures, Earth Songs is a suite of works that portray the depth and appeal of India’s folk and tribal artists.
Full of surprises and beauty, the works of these artists have the potential to compel once attention with its freshness of insight and rendering. There is Gond from Madhya Pradesh, Motifs from the Pithora stories of Madhya Pradesh - Gujarat border, tales of Jharkhand, minimalist geometrical figuration of Warli ritual painting, amongst others, on display.
