Hands down one of the prettier venues in the concrete suburb, Impromptu’s glasshouse seating is the stuff epic dates are made of! Think outdoor seating with cosy wooden benches, quaint lantern lights, a green cover and a vantage view of the inside through white curtained ceiling to floor windows. The indoors is pretty fun too, but tends to get a bit loud courtesy post-office crowds and big group parties, both of which seem to be a staple here on any given day. That steady inflow of people, along with their reserve happy hours, is the reason why getting reservations is a tough task. In terms of the menu, the bar and kitchen are on equal footing. While there’s a long list of dark and white spirits as well as beer and wine to choose from, the signature twists are a good start off point. We went with the Tropical Sangria and loved the addition of brandy, cinnamon and cloves that left a warm afterglow. Also interesting was the Watermelon Vodka Spritzer, although you’ll be hard pressed to find fresh fruit in your drink during cooler months. The food menu is short and sweet with the likes of a decadent Scamorza on Toast that goes perfectly with a glass of vino or Chicken Wings in BBQ sauce that pair well with beer. As far as the music goes, they are pretty active with an in-house DJ and the likes of Salsa Bachata Mondays or Retro Fridays.
