Pinjra explores the narratives of two women Siya and Jaanki, living in different eras but subjected to trivialities and social obligations of a woman. The story of Siya is set in the 19th century India when Sati Practice was banned by Queen Victoria. The story of Jaanki is that of a regular girl who has a fancy prince of her dreams. But the difference between a prince and a devil is lost amid the lines of romance, lust and subtlety. Her relationship with her husband involves physicality and bodily pleasure and bypassing of innocent consent.
The question to its audience is, will they be able to break their respective cages or pinjras, or learn to live enwrapped and enveloped?
