Practiced in the state of Rajasthan, Phad is a folk painting which is traditionally done on a long piece of cloth or canvas, depicting various narratives of the folk deities of the state. The workshop will be curated by Kalyan Joshi and will introduce the folk art to its participants.
Kalyan was born in the family of traditional artists of phad. He has extensively experimented with the art form with new stories and contemporary style, has created picture montages and character animation using phad. He has been a part of many workshops and exhibitions at NIFT, Delhi, Asian Art Museum, Indira Gandhi National Culture for Arts, Delhi and San Francisco, USA.
