EDITOR’S PICK
Chi Asian Cookhouse, Sector 18
The champion of Pan Asian street food is finally here with a menu that traverses through Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and China. With 58 covers, an open kitchen and road signs hanging on the walls – the feel is casual yet comfortable. The menu features exciting new sections such as a Satay Station, Dimsum Cart, Khao Suey Corner and more. We started with the summer appropriate Som Tam (Rs 225) – the crunchy and spicy salad that transports you to a beach in Pattaya – along with the juicy Singaporean Pork Satay (Rs 425). For a touch of the sea, there’s the Balinese Fish Satay (Rs 425) and Prawn Hargao (Rs 325) that are both winners in our book. What stands out is that each dish sees a very distinct play of flavours. We washed down the goodies with another new addition called Chi Chewees that came in some in refreshing flavours like Mango Wasabi (Rs 175) and Lychee Cinnamon (Rs 175). Our favourites also included their earthy Korean Street Sushi Kimbap (Rs 415) followed by the iconic Nasi Goreng (Rs 575) aka fiery chicken and prawn fried rice. Wrap up this culinary trip with Coconut Pancakes (Rs 215) served with orange syrup and ice cream.

NEW MENU
Mamagoto, Sector 18
Want even more Asian fare? Mamagoto has introduced a bunch of Chinese and Thai classics curated specially for those craving wholesome and invigorating flavours. We loved their Bophut Village Hot Chicken Wings (Rs 319) that struck the right balance between chewy and juicy with a hint of coconut as well as the flavour packed Cheese and Truffle Dumplings (Rs 269 for 4). The emphasis is on keeping it light courtesy Summer Roll with Basil Dip (Rs 289) – soya and basil leaves wrapped in rice paper and Mama’s Lab Kai (Rs 359) – minced chicken with toasted rice. The highlight though is their Massaman Curry with Duck and Litchi (Rs 799) – a classic Thai curry that’s an interpretation of Persian dish and is comfort food in a bowl. Adding more options for sweet indulgences are the Sticky Rice with Mango (Rs 299) and Coconut Panko Banana (Rs 299) served with gooey caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. And in case you don’t have time to step out and need a quick working lunch, there’s also the Mamatiffin – a Bento box with Old School Gyoza and their crowd pleasing Som Tam Salad. You can pick from 8 variations including the China Town Tiffin (Rs 329) that’s got hakka noodles with stir fried greens tossed in garlic or the Spicy Thai Tiffin (Rs 359) which got the vote from all chilli lovers with its spicy minced chicken cooked in Thai herbs and served with steamed rice.

Dhaba at Atta, Sector 18
Bringing the taste and feel of authentic dhaba food to the suburb is this newbie by the owners of Burbees. The budget friendly eatery makes you feel like you’re inside a modified truck. Expect bright, vibrant coloured walls with quirky one liners, truck number plates hanging on walls and 80’s Bollywood hits playing in the background – all reminiscent of an Indian highway. Serving North Indian delicacies from Pindi Chole (Rs 175) to Grilled Chicken Seekh (Rs 310) and even Fauji Mutton Curry (Rs 399) – the food is a reflection of streetside dhabas and is definitely worth a try.

This young venture is making all the right noises. Serving Belgian Waffles and French Crepes, as the name suggest, the dessert-focussed outlet is giving our diet a big kick.
