Not many people know that the team behind this European style bistro and bar used to run a much smaller watering hole called Red Monkey in Def Col a few years ago. That monkey was known for its “where everybody knows your name” vibe and cheap drinks along with their policy of letting frequent guests choose the playlist for the night. We have fond memories of watching India make it to the 2011 World Cup finals in that bar over pitchers of some very potent mixes. Cut to 2014 and THM has become one of the hottest spots in town with a cheeky chef (that does not like folks who ask him what a pâté is) and a bar menu conjured up by our favourite cocktail wizard, Druid aka Arijit Bose. Its two sprawling floors are topped by a quaint terrace, which is where we usually park ourselves before going for a round of Fog Light – a lush dream that comes enveloped in lavender flavoured smoke and then reveals a delicate structure of peach, pineapple, rose water and lime juice with each ingredient holding its own. Our other pick – Moscow Mule shares the same pedigree as the one served at PCO, so we know it’s a good version, but it’s the Bloody Bacon Mary that will put hair on your chest and a spring in your step with bacon infused vodka, spiced sauce, tomato juice and peppers – this one isn’t for the light hearted! For a group of tipplers, their Social Experiments make for great sharing and even better drunken stories the day after. The wine list is decent with a few by-the-glass options. Once you’re done monkeying around, see what the hungry part is all about with elegant bar fare like the ‘Bang Bang’ Chicken Rolls named after our fave TV show and Seared Tenderloin Carpaccio made from our fave meat. Spend a pre-gaming evening here, or better yet, a fun night where the emphasis is on cocktails and conversations.

This monkey ain’t playing around folks! He is the mascot of one of the hottest spots in town with an unassuming chef who loves minimalism and a bar menu conjured up by a naughty wiz. THM is spread over two sprawling floors with a bonus terrace, which is where we usually park ourselves before ordering a round of Fog Light — a lush dream that comes enveloped in lavender flavoured smoke and then reveals a delicate structure of peach, pineapple, rose water and lime juice. Our other pick of Burnt Lime and Pineapple Margarita is fiery, sweet and crisp – all at the same time, but it’s the Bloody Bacon Mary that will put hair on your chest and a spring in your step with bacon infused vodka, spiced sauce, tomato juice and peppers! For a group, a pitcher from their Sangria Bar should do the trick, though we like nursing their recently introduced Barrel Aged Old Fashion that they age themselves in oak barrels. The wine list is decent with some by-the-glass options, but this cheeky bar and bistro is not easy on the wallet. Their California Tapas makes for elegant bar fare and is worth every penny, especially the Tenderloin Carpaccio with Peppery Arugula Pesto, Slow Roasted Mushrooms and Summer Prawns Wrapped in Kataifi. The playlist is geared towards sexy easy listening, but weekends mean rooftop gigs. Spend a pre-gaming session here or better yet, get your gang together and converge over their community tables for some happy times!
