When we think of Old Delhi, we think of brilliant Mughal buildings and narrow lanes packed with excited bargain hunters, but most of all, what has us coming back to visit is the food. Though constantly bustling the year round, Chandni Chowk really comes alive during the holy month of Ramadan. A host of food stalls beckon, tempting you with their aroma – we guarantee you’lI be spoilt for choice. If you’re not sure where to begin, let our handy iftar guide lead the way.
Aslam Chicken

Mohd. Nurshid’s Stall
Vegetarians who feel left out during the festivities are in luck. Order a plate of Laung Churey Kebabs – vegetarian seekh kebabs and two types of vegetarian pakoras. They’re made from besan, flour, garlic, ginger and onion, and come with a side of tangy red chutney.

Where: Outside Hamdard Shop, Bazaar Chitli Qabar
Babu Bhai Kabab Wale
You’ll have to navigate through a maze of narrow, crowded bylanes to get to this stall, but the plate of succulent mutton kebabs – prepared with a heady mix of spices and a generous helping of butter – that awaits you makes the effort more than worth it.

Haji Mohd. Hussain Fried Chicken
KFC has nothing on these guys! Succulent chicken pieces are marinated in spices, coated in besan and then deep fried to a perfect golden brown. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the juicy fried chicken is served with a tangy chutney and roomali roti.

Changezi Chicken
Established almost 26 years ago, this shop gets its name from its signature dish. Their Changezi Chicken comes in a tangy gravy of curd, tomatoes and onion to be soaked up with khamiri roti. The portions are generous, and a quarter plate will suffice for two.

Sheeren Bhawan
Don’t let this shop’s rundown exterior dissuade you. Here you’ll find arguably the yummiest rasmalai in the city. And if you need more convincing, peep inside and you’ll find a huge crowd who echo our sentiment.

There’s no better way to end your food trail than with a pit stop here for their khabo lassi. Thick, creamy lassi is served frozen and makes for a sweet treat that’s even more satisfying than ice-cream.
