This summer, why not take a few hours out and volunteer at these NGO’s that offer programmes for working professionals. Bhumi Bhumi focuses on providing the basic form of education to the under privileged. There are many who have the capability but lack the opportunity and access to bring it out, that’s where Bhumi comes into play. Their basic volunteer programme is for those under the age of 30 where with as little as two hours of your time per week, you can take up teaching or mentoring, and helps create social awareness about environment as well as design posters. They primarily focus on enriching the lives of those who can’t afford proper medical care, treatments and medicines. The volunteer programme is open for varying professionals like doctors, educationalists, students, legal experts who can bring in their special set of skills to help the economically challenged. Register here Caring Angels The prime motive of this orginisation is to provide basic facilities like shelter, food and health care to the homeless. A project of mission convergence, Government of NCT and St. Stephen’s Hospital, the NGO has been around since 2010. The volunteer section includes a programme where you can devote your time helping in various activities, such as vocational training, grooming a child, patient care, counseling, cleaning orphanage shelters and more. Register here CRY – Child Right And You The well known child rights advocate, CRY has initiated, launched and organised multiple campaigns fighting for the rights of children across various countries. For working professionals, they offer two types of volunteer programmes – local or digital. The former allows you to take charge in your own locality by motivating and enabling individuals to work for their cause. There are no strict targets or assignments, and you just have to put your people’s skill and free time to good use. The latter is for the those who are net savvy or working in digital roles – content editor, graphic designer, coder, social media optimiser – and can actually put your professional skills to use, helping them on multiple campaigns.
