Earlier in the month, we told you about the alternative things you can do in Delhi and now, inspired by the new MasterChef Australia season, we are focussing on honing your culinary skills. With experts from different walks giving you the chance to learn from their reportoire, we are spoilt for choice. From knowing how to brew a perfect cuppa to rolling a maki – here are some great sessions lined up for the rest of May.
Kiddie Cooking
Summer vacations have begun and if keeping them young ones busy seems like a mammoth task, take them with you on your next shopping trip to DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj. While you nosh and pick stuff for that fancy recipes and do some retail therapy, enroll them for a cookie and cupcake decoration or a doughnut decorating workshop. An hour long session, the chefs will teach them how to make cake pops and how to add chutzpah to their favourite dessert at Foodhall and Krispy Kreme respectively! Along with this workshop, the mall also has a plethora of activities planned on weekdays and weekends including science experiments, petting animals, designing tees and much more.

Healthy Cooking
Summers are upon us like never before and while we plan our weekends in the pool wearing our favourite bikini, My Little Food Company is going to teach how us to keep in shape. Chef Hanisha will share tips on everything from whipping up green smoothies to making fluffly egg-white omelettes, tossing healthy salads and cooking light mains such as stuffed eggplant with pearl barley pilaf, spinach stuffed lean chicken breast with pesto oat and cocoa chia seed puddings! The workshop has limited seats, so book a spot now.

Mixology Workshop
Banish those Monday blues with an exciting and informative cocktail workshop by renowned alcohol historian and molecular mixologist Zac Abbot at the pioneering PCO. Zac will give a brief introduction to prohibition era cocktails, mix up some concoctions for you to learn from and even show off skills you can use at your next party. The session is free for India Bartenders’ Guild members and non-members will have to pay a nominal fee.

Sushi Masterclass
Along with celebrating their annual Hanami Festival, Guppy is now giving Japanese food lovers like us the chance to meet Chef Vikram Khatri and learn from his sushi rolling skils. With this one day session, you can ,aster different techniques and delicate flavour pairings essential in creating authentic sushi and other traditional dishes. The class will be followed by a sumptuous meal comprising of handmade rolls and a bowl of miso. You also get to take home a recipe set and a certificate. Hooray!

Bringing you the best of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s signature recipes, the Vasant Kunj outlet is where you for an Italian crash course. Every week, you can get your hands on 3 of Jamie’s special (and often secret) recipes and learn how to ace these with the guidance of the Head Chef, who has been trained by Jamie and his culinary team. Each participant gets their own cooking station and the recipes change every week. So what are you waiting for?
