The play is about a landlord, Antonio Moraes, who resides on an island and does not allow any link to established to the outside world. He believes that he can save the culture of the island by not allowing foreign people and elements into the island.
The plot intensifies when his son returns to the island after completing his studies, with his girlfriend Loretta. Antonio is unwelcoming of Loretta and lays out a few challenges for her, in order to get his acceptance. How does she conquer these challenges and what happens when she does, forms the crux of the play.
