The Gold Dust of Begum Sultans is a name for a book by Ms. Zakia Zaheer and Ms. Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, as well as the exhibition by Ranesh Ray.
The exhibition explores the tangible and intangible heritage of the Rampur State through clothes, jewels, weddings, mournings, rites and rituals of the feudal era. It takes you on a journey of the everyday lifestyle of the people of Rampur.
The book is set in the same period and revolves around a feudal family, which consists of three strong matriarchs - Qamar Zamani Begum, Jahanara Begum and Shehzadi Begum. It is set in the period of the revolt of 1857, and highlights the clashing mentalities along with the revolt.
