With the mercury rising higher and higher, it’s time to dig into a traditional Indian dessert that dates back to the Mughal era – the humble kulfi. Made with dense creamy milk, this is your perfect summer soother. So join us on trail of some of the best kulfi shops in and around Old Delhi. Kuremal Mohanlal Kulfiwale Who wouldn’t have heard of Kuremal Mohanlal Kulfiwale? We think kulfi and Kuremal is the first brand that pops into our head. Started in a push-cart with few plain kulfi flavours way back in 1908, they now are known to sell more than 50 flavours, like custard apple, phalsa, aam panna, mango, guava, kiwi, pomegranate, fig, tamarind, green mango and more, giving you a tough time making up your mind. Their speciality is the mango kulfi, where the fruit is scooped out and stuffed with rabri, and then frozen. Believe us, it’s a delight. All the fruit flavours are made from real fruits and the pulp is 100 per cent original. While the green mango kulfi gives that tangy zing, another star is their famous gulab kulfi, where rosewater is frozen and cut into pieces. The rustic wooden spoons add an old-world charm to the overall experience. P.S: The shop is often closed for walk ins, but they’re only a call away on 9810540105. Price: Rs 100 for two Timings: 10.30 am to 10.30 pm Lala Duli Chand Naresh Gupta As we walked the by-lanes of Sita Ram Bazaar in Chandni Chowk, we happened to chance upon this famous outlet in Purani Dilli – Lala Duli Chand Naresh Gupta – that has been in the kulfi-making business since 1960. Known for fruity and creamy kulfis over the years, what makes this brand so unique is that instated of any artificial flavouring, they use all real fruits.  Their stuffed orange is the showstopper, where the rabri is infused with orange zest and frozen. To our surprise, we also found them selling bhang kulfi (they are not much open about it). Try your luck and have some – trust us, it will be nothing short of memorable. You’re welcome! Price: Rs 100 for two Timings: 9 am to 10 pm Contact: 9953872664 Roshan Di Kulfi Roshan Di Kulfi is no new name for the people of West Delhi, with a loyal clientele that the shop has seen over the years. Known for their kesar badaam pista and paan faluda kulfi, the shop always sees a long queue waiting outside to have their favourites. Don’t forget to top your kulfi with their faluda, which is one of the best in the city. And a brand that saw a facelift two years back also adds a twist to their taste with some nutty-flavoured kulfi, which are a big hit too. Be it the old-school kulfi faluda or the nutty delight, their kulfis are a must-try. Price: Rs 150 for two Timings: 11 am to 9 pm Contact: 9312497332  Siya Ram Nannumal Kulfiwale The city has no dearth of these age-old kulfiwalas, and Siya Ram Nannumal Kulfiwale can’t be forgotten when are compiling a list of best kulfis in town.
