Saree Festival

The Saree Festival in town will be showcasing varied varieties of draping, style, texture and material used in Sarees, all across. The event focuses on saree, one of the most traditional and contemporary costume, highlighting the vast diversity of traditional Sarees created by weavers from different parts of India. Bringing rare to contemporary the platform aims to lend a the craft of saree making, bringing different types of experiments, vocabularies, sensibilities, amterials and more, all under one roof. The event will also be showcasing Saree ka Gunijan Khana by Anuja Ghosalkar, the theoretical and performance aspect of Red Earth, the organizers. Some of the traditional sarees one can see in the exhibition, include - Galang Gabaan (Odisha tribal weaves), Kyra by Nina and Deepika / Resplendent festive Sarees, Pankaja  (Odisha weaves), Pariah (Assamese Sarees, mekhala chadars and blouses, Pratham (Handwoven and printed linens), Resha by Medhavini (Natural dyed block prints), Slice of Bengal( Heritage Bengal handlooms) and Svang (Woven in Bengal). Furthermore, they will be hosting a workshop on Saree Stylings on April 14th.
