All of us have that one favourite dessert that keeps us coming back for more, but while that familiar taste might take us to our happy place, a true blue sweet tooth always keeps an eye out for something new. And so, it’s time to surrender to these delicious and quirky goodies that are perfect for the season. Tarte Au Citron @ Maison Des Desserts Much like a creamy lemon meringue pie, this Swiss dessert comes with a sweet and salty pastry crust filled lemon curd and topped with meringue peaks. The thing that makes this dessert unusual is that the topping comprises meringue peaks, flavoured with vanilla pods, instead of regular cream peaks. PS: With a changing dessert menu, this might not be available round the clock; however, they can prepare the dish on special orders. Price: Rs 160 (slice) and Rs 1,800 (pie) Where: Hauz Khas Village Dark Chocolate and Salted Caramel Cake @ Miam This rich entry comes with a spongy cake base that is infused with Callebaut cocoa powder (70 per cent cocoa). What adds flavour to this dessert is the centre hollow that is filled with a sea-salt caramel ganache, and an icing that has a rich flavour of Belgian chocolate. Light and fluffy, this one is a must-try for chocolate lovers. PS: It’s a made-to-order space, where one can pick up the order from the outlet. Price: 1,200 (per kg) Where: SDA Market Chocolate Box @ Lutyens Cocktail House This one comes with more options than one can handle, hence the name – Chocolate Box. A brainchild of the chef, this wooden box comes with a mix of masala tea flavoured ganache macaroons, opera cake, gooey triple Chocó brownie, parfait that brings a mix of biscuit and cake with whipped chocolate cream, and Chantilly, a soft spongy cake with Chantilly icing. Loaded enough for you? Give it a try! Price: Rs 650 Where: Janpath Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake @ Chew – Pan Asian Cafe Quite a surprising fusion for the Indian palate, Chew has fused two favourites – gulab jamun with cheese cake – to form a new dessert. As part of their new dessert menu, this particular mouth-watering treat comes with a buttery biscuit base topped gulab jamun and mixed with cream, mascarpone and cheese. Besides the rich creamy flavours that will take over your palate, you will get a subtle hint of kewda in this fusion. Price: Rs 265 (slice) Where: Connaught Place Mix Berry Cheese Cake @ Perch Wine Coffee Bar If you like berries in your cheese cake, then this one is for you. Unlike the standard cheese cake, this one has a fluffy consistency. The second unusual thing is that the cheesy mixture is made by mixing cream with Philadelphia cheese, which is infused with a fresh berry sorbet and Bailey’s crème Anglaise. Price: Rs 450 (slice) Where: Khan Market
